Types of Resume Samples
The Types of Resume Samples are Chronological, Functional, Combination, and Targeted. You can view resume samples here and pick one depending on your personal circumstances and how you feel your information would best be showcased. Please note however these types of resume samples may need to be reformatted a bit if you are copying and pasting the text to use as your guide.
Chronological Resume: This is the more traditional type of resume and the one employers and hiring managers usually prefer because it's easier to see what jobs you have held recently. A chronological resume starts by outlining your work history, with the most recent position listed first and the rest following in reverse chronological order. This type of resume would work well for if you have a very solid work history showing Administrative Assisting experience etc.

Functional Resume: A functional resume highlights your skills and accomplishments first, rather than starting off on your work history. This could be a benefit to employers who want to see your abilities first and don't want to have to read through all the employment history to find out. However, you should still list your previous employers information and dates worked. It is used most often by students entering the workforce, people who are changing careers, or those who have gaps in employment history. This one may not be favorable to some conservative employers as they are used to reviewing an applicant's previous employment.

Combination Resume: A combined resume is exactly as it sounds. A combination of elements included in the Chronological and the Functional resumes. It lists your skills and experience or accomplishments first and your employment history next with brief descriptions. The advantages of both resumes are present here so my advice would be to use this format whenever possible unless it creates the problem of having a resume longer than two pages or even two pages that are packed too full of information.

Targeted Resume: A targeted resume is used most often when you are applying for a specific job and have a clear picture of what the responsibilities will be. It is a resume customized to specifically highlights the most relevant experiences and skills you have to the job you are applying for. Similar to the Functional resume it highlights skills and accomplishments first. It takes a bit more work to write a targeted resume but, this choice might be good for those with little or no job experience who could utilize the addition of hobbies or other interests, or if you feel it is a job matching your personality and experience perfectly.
